Feel More Confident with a Mani/Pedi Appointment
When it comes to feeling confident, consider the benefits of manicures and pedicures. The last few months we’ve focused on hair and makeup, but it’s time to give those nails their turn in the hot seat. You may not consider the luxuries and confidence boost that a quality manicure or pedicure can provide. Of course, new hair and makeup can be show-stoppers, but why can’t your nails be, too?
Trying bright colors or fun nail art can help to add style and flair to your fingers and toes, alongside added strength and length with acrylics or gel options. Regular polish is always a great option to add some color to your nails, as well. Adding a nail technician to the mix allows you to sit back and relax, making the whole experience even better.
This month, we’re going to explore different nail trends and how they can boost your self-esteem. Those who struggle with biting their nails or with weak, short nails may enjoy the treat of gel, acrylic, or paraffin manicures. People with dry, rough skin on their hands and feet may also enjoy the comfort of a paraffin manicure or standard pedicure, too.
Current Nail Trends for All Clients
If you’re looking to stay on trend, the future nail technicians at Artisan School of Cosmetology are here to help. Our students stay on top of all types of nail art, gel, acrylic, and standard polish types, colors, and shapes to make sure we give you exactly what you’re looking for. Gel is a great way to keep nails strong without adding additional length. We’ll get more into their differences soon, but gel and acrylic are always popular nail types for our clients.
Elle offers a comprehensive list of the different types of manicures available. This guide can help you to determine which type of manicure you may benefit from the most, whether your budget or nail preferences. Check out our salon services menu for the nail services at our cosmetology school.
Choosing Between Gel and Acrylic Nails
Like we mentioned, gel and acrylic nails are both common options for our clients, and for good reason. Both offer style and durability to your nails. Gel doesn’t usually add length, but it’s cured under a UV light, making it durable and long-lasting. Gel appointments usually do not take long and can be in any color with your choice of nail art. To remove gel, however, it takes more than a quick swipe of nail polish remover. Gel needs to soak in acetone, and it’s best to visit a salon for proper removal.
Acrylics can be in just about any length and shape. Almond, square, round, and stiletto are just a few of the shapes that you can choose from. The nail technician will buff your natural nails to make a base for the acrylic. Using tips of your preferred length, the nail technician will adhere the tips and cover with an acrylic mixture. Having acrylic nails can provide the length and style that you desire, helping you to feel more confident in the look of your nails. Finish with gel or standard polish to get that perfect color and art look.
Benefits of a Paraffin Manicure
To really pamper your hands during your salon trip, consider a paraffin manicure. What sets this manicure apart is the dip in a paraffin wax melt. Pure Wow explains the added benefits of a paraffin wax dip, especially when it comes to moisture. The wax opens pores on the hands, allowing dirt, bacteria, and dead skin to come off with the wax. This allows for smooth, supple skin. Are you struggling with dry, cracked hands? Consider scheduling a paraffin manicure at Artisan School of Cosmetology. Please note that paraffin wax is not recommended for those with diabetes, varicose veins, hypertension, and other medical problems.
Fun Nail Art Trends to Try at Your Next Appointment
Instead of choosing a neutral color or French manicure, why not go bold and add some bright colors or patterns? There are all types of nail art that you can try, but here are a few trendy favorites:
Skittles Mani. A “skittles mani” is when each nail is a different color. Choose from bold, bright colors or pastels – whichever suits you best.
Geometric Shapes. Geometric shapes allow for each nail to be different.
Colorful French Tip. Instead of the standard white, use a fun color to show off your daring side.
Glitter or Metallic. Shine like the star you are with a beautiful glitter or metallic manicure. Switch it up by doing a French manicure with glitter tips.
Animal Print. A classic in any year and season, animal print is here to stay. Choose from zebra, leopard, tiger, and other fun prints.
Do any of these current nail trends sound enticing? Or maybe you have some ideas of your own? Whichever you choose, have fun with it! We want you to feel great with your nails.
Complete Your Day of Pampering with a Pedicure
Now it’s time to move on from the hands to the feet. Whether you’re standing all day due to work or struggle with rough, dry skin, a pedicure may be what you need to give your feet the break and treatment that they need. Sandal season is approaching – feel confident in those strappy heels or flip flops after a pedicure appointment. Your feet and toes will thank you for it.
